Gebaut wurde diese Emil ursprünglich als Bf 109 E-1. Durch Umrüstungen (Bewaffnung, Motor) wurde sie dann zur Bf 109 E-7.

Die Maschine wurde von dem Obergefreiten Gerhard Siebt von der 4. Staffel vom Jagdgeschwader 5 am 19.02.1942 geflogen, als es bei Raetkavaara (Nordfinnland) zum Luftkampf mit russischen MiG 3 kam. Nach diesem Luftkampf, bei dem die Maschine mit der Kennung "schwarze 12" vermutlich Treffer bekam, musste Siebt eine Bauchlandung machen. Der Flugzeugführer wird seit diesem Tag vermisst.

Im Jahr 1972 wurden die Überreste geborgen und sind seit dem eingelagert. Eine Restauration ist vermutlich aufgrund der vielen fehlenden Teile nicht mehr möglich. Vom Rumpf ist nur noch das Hinterteil übrig, von den Flügeln nur noch die Mittelteile bis zum Rumpf, dazu das Leitwerk, Propeller, Motorblock und einige Kleinteile. Das Cockpit fehlt praktisch komplett.
Vermutlich hatte Siebt die Maschine vor dem verlassen der Landestelle in Brand gesteckt.

Bei der Untersuchung des Rumpfes kam zum Vorschein das die folgenden Kennzeichen aufgemalt waren:
- "schwarze 12"
- "weisse 4"
- "gelbe 2"
- "grüner Winkel"
