Curriculum vitae
Letzer Flugzeugführer dieser Emil mit der vermuteten Kennung "gelbe 10", war der Unteroffizier Eduard Hemmerling von der 6./JG 51. Am 29.07.1940 machte dieser mit einer Bf 109 E-1 am Strand von Cap Blanc Nez bei Calais (Frankreich) eine Bruchlandung nach Luftkampf mit Spitfires über Dover (England). Er erlag einige Tage später seinen schweren Verletzungen.[Q-84]

Was noch von der Maschine übrig war, wurde 1988 geborgen. Den Anfang zur Restauration machte 1994 Craig Charlston. Dann wurde die Maschine zeitweilig an den Sammler David Price verkauft. Dieser vermachte sie 1996 an die Alpine Fighter Collection (Neuseeland).

Letztenendes wurde sie im Mai 1999 an die Flying Heritage Collection (FHC), Arlington - Washington (USA) verkauft und ist damit nun im Besitz von Microsoft-Mitgründer Paul Allen.
Die Restauration wurde von der Charleston Aviation Services, Essex (England) fortgeführt. Mitte Januar 2005 wurden Rollversuche mit der Emil in Wattisham, Suffolk (England) durchgeführt.

Seit 1999 war sie mit G-BYDS in England zugelassen. Unter der Motorhaube verrichtet ein restaurierter DB 601 seine Arbeit. Seit dem 24.11.2004 ist sie mit "N342FH" in den USA zugelassen. Bis Mitte 2007 war die Maschine zusammen mit den anderen Warbirds der FHC in Arlington (Washington, USA) stationiert. Danach wurden die Maschinen zum Paine Field Airport in Everett Washington, USA) verlegt, wo ein grosser Hangar für die Flugzeugsammlung der FHC gebaut wurde.
Am 22.03.2008 wurde der Erstflug der Emil durch Steve Hinton erfolgreich durchgeführt.

Eine Kennung ist derzeit noch nicht angebracht, da die Kennung als "gelbe 10" vermutlich noch nicht 100% sicher ist.

Ein schönes Video zeigt den Anlassvorgang des Daimler Benz, wobei diese Variante mittels externer Stromversorgung und elektrischem Anlasser natürlich nicht originalgetreu ist.
