Am 12.08.1944 hatte die Maschine Bodenberührung auf dem Flugplatz Rheine, wo der Schaden mit 30% angegeben wurde. Es erfolgte dann die Reparatur bei Ludwig-Hansen & Co in Münster. Die Abgabe erfolgte vermutlich am 31.12.1944, da es die Aufschrift an der linken Seite "M.C.Y. 31.12.44" gibt. Die Maschine wurde während des Schadens zum Flugzeugüberführungsgeschwader 1 (Fl.Ü.G. 1) überstellt.
Interessantes Detail an dieser Maschine ist, dass sie vermutlich mal als Bf 109 G-6/AS ausgeliefert worden war.

Diese Maschine wurde bei Kriegsende von den Alliierten auf dem Flugplatz Eggebeck erbeutet und wurde als Museumsflugzeug auserwählt. Sie wurde im Juni 1946 nach Australien gebracht wo sie verschiedene Besitzer hatte. Von 1963 bis 1979 stand sie in Banktown bei der Marshall Airways Collection. Danach versuchte der Brite Douglas Arnold die Maschine nach England zu holen, was jedoch wegen den australischen Behörden scheiterte. Es handelte sich damals um die einzige Messerschmitt Bf 109 in Australien. Sie wurde 1987 an das Museum "Australien War Memorial" übergeben und im Treloar Warfare Centre in Mitchell bei Canberra eingelagert.

Seit Ende 2003 ist sie nun in der Ausstellung "Strike by Night" zu sehen.

Diese Messerschmitt 109 ist übrigens die einzige weltweit, die noch ihren originalen Anstrich aus dem zweiten Weltkrieg hat.
