In den 80er Jahren baute der Amerikaner George N. Lucas ein statisches Bf 109 Replikat aus Holz. Die Bauzeit belief sich auf ca. sechs Jahre. Der Anstrich entspricht einer "Gustav" des erfolgreichsten Jagdfliegers, Erich Hartmann (JG 52). Nach der Fertigstellung stand die Maschine ca. zwei Jahre in seinem Garten bis sie ein neues Zuhause im San Diego Aerospace museum in California (USA) gefunden hatte. Die Bf 109 war das erste Flugzeug-Replikat welches Herr Lucas baute.
Inzwischen hat er auch eine Bachem Ba 349 "Natter", eine Messerschmitt Me 163 und eine Heinkel He 100 gebaut. |
